Idaho State University (ISU) is releasing a new project, Promoting Equity in Healthcare Interpreting (PEHI)!
Louisiana Commission for the Deaf (LCD) is working in partnership with Idaho State University to create videos that will be used for training interpreters working in healthcare settings.
Your experiences are what PEHI and LCD are looking for: living with a medical condition, receiving certain medical treatments, or dealing with healthcare providers.
Can you share your story with us to help interpreters improve their skills?
PEHI’s goal is to collect stories from various signers and signing styles. We are especially interested in stories from individuals who have had experiences with COVID19, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis or other common medical conditions.
LCD will be seeking up to 15 d/Deaf and DeafBlind community members who are willing to have their stories recorded on video. We will be seeking a diversity of Deaf signers so the interpreters can have exposure to different styles and fluency.
Interested?
Please fill out this form https://forms.gle/tV8PMFH1msLv7vA98.
The interviews will be held from August 28, 2024, through September 13, 2024, and can be recorded in person or virtually. The process will take approximately 30 – 45 minutes. If you are willing to join and share your testimonial and be recorded, Participants will receive a gift card from PEHI for their time.
