Public Response Notice—Professional and Occupational Standards, Sign Language Interpreters

After careful consideration of all the questions and input received regarding the minimum qualification standards and registration requirements for sign language interpreters in Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Health will proceed with the regulations as published in the Notice of Intent (Louisiana Administrative Code Title 46: LXXII). Please click here for responses to the main issues and questions raised throughout the public input process. The Department will continue to work to reduce as many barriers to implementation as possible in this process, while ensuring sign language interpreters maintain the highest professional standards all Louisianans who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard of hearing deserve.
